This xeric steppe gypsophile element has a curious disjunct range, with a large area north from the Black Sea and another one, totally isolated, in Transylvania. In the last region the species grows abundantly on the Eocene gypsum layers from the north-west part of the area (see the first set of pictures below) while being very rare in the Transylvanian Plain, on other rocks (second set of pictures), It is also mentioned from Moldavia at Falciu (Vaslui county) but this report should be verified.

Frata at Onisie, Cluj county in Transylvanian Plain, on sands and not on gypsum, the population here is totally isolated from the ones on the gypsums from Somes Plateau and the species was not encountered in this region since the XIXth century
